Privacy policy

The short version

We only collect personal details when you give them to us, mostly through the casting form. We use them for casting and to contact you. We never sell them, publish them or pass them to anyone outside the production team.

Who we are

Sapumal Production makes Sinhala web series, comedy and short films for YouTube. We decide how the personal data described here is used. You can reach us at info@sapumalproduction.com or on 071 630 0227.

What we collect

Casting applications. Your name, date of birth, gender, district, height if you give it, mobile number and whether it has WhatsApp, email if you give it, the languages you act in, your experience, the roles you are interested in, what you tell us about yourself, a link to your work if you give one, and your photos. For applicants under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and mobile number. We also record when you applied.

Messages. If you call, email or message us on Facebook, we see what you send us.

Technical data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and protect the site. To stop the casting form being flooded, we keep a one-way code made from your IP address for one hour. It cannot be turned back into the address.

Why we use it

• To consider you for roles in our series, now and in future.
• To contact you, or your parent or guardian if you are under 18.
• To keep the site and the form safe from spam and abuse.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you tick the box on the casting form. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who can see it

Only the Sapumal Production team members who handle casting. Our hosting provider, Hostinger, stores the website, its database and our email, and processes data only to provide that service. Nobody else sees your application. We do not sell, rent or publish your details or photos.

How long we keep it

We keep casting applications for up to two years from the day you apply, so we can consider you for later series. After that we delete them. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we will.

Children

Applicants under 18 must give a parent or guardian’s name and number, and we speak to that parent or guardian before offering any role. A parent or guardian can ask us to see or delete a child’s application at any time.

Your rights

Under Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022, you can ask us to:

• show you the personal data we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete your data;
• stop using your data, by withdrawing your consent.

Email info@sapumalproduction.com or call 071 630 0227. We may need to check it is really you. We will reply as soon as we can, and within one month. If you are not happy with how we handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.

How we protect it

The whole site runs over HTTPS. Applications are stored in the website’s admin area, which only logged-in administrators can open. Photos are saved under random file names that are not listed or linked anywhere public.

Facebook, YouTube and cookies

Some content on this site comes from Facebook and YouTube. What they collect, and how we hold it back until you choose, is in our cookie policy.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
